Detailed description of project: 

The ISCE regional office in Ukraine initiated a study tour of Bulgaria by a group of specialists in local economic development from various regions in Ukraine. Serdon planned, organized and managed this week-long event, which took place in various regions of the country. Bulgaria served as a case study of integration into the European Union for the Ukrainian delegation, whose objective was to learn firsthand about the challenges and advantages of the integration process on the local level. To achieve this goal, the group met with a variety of Bulgarian public organizations that are involved in local economic development.The study tour involved becoming acquainted with the following:  

• LED offices, agencies and their relations with municipalities, as well as their role and functions in economic development of local communities; projects that resulted in attracting new businesses, investments to these communities.

 

• LED in relation to business development (Business Support Organizations and Incubators, Employment Centers, Investment Funds, etc.); relations between the business community and the local government. The role of chambers of commerce in business development and export promotion. Exhibition centers, such as International Fair Plovdiv; Expo Center in Sofia and other trade shows and fairs as tools for business development. Realization of successful investment projects. 

Bulgarian agencies designed to promote European Integration - ministries, small municipalities and their functions.

Logistical support for the whole duration of the project.
