The Consortium, based in Sofia, was established in 2006 as a network of private companies, think tanks / research institutions and individual experts from South and Central Eastern Europe.  The network is based on and an extension of several successful regional activities, informational cooperation and project partnerships.  FSN follows on the successful initiatives and partnerships of the South East Europe Trade Initiative (SEETI), the initial research of competitiveness and mapping of clusters in South East Europe (SEE) and the Balkan Network.  These initiatives were grass root activities and partnerships between mainly representatives of National, Regional and Branch Chambers and Associations, Think Tanks and Research Institutes, Private Manufacturing and Service Companies, and individual experts, but also Governments and Donors.

The core team of FSN consists of a pool of well-educated professionals, who have strong regional and local industry knowledge and international experience. The management of Consortium has at its disposal a large pool of highly capable and experienced advisors and economists on whom it can rely in each phase of project preparation, implementation and evaluation.  The strength of the Consortium is the wide network of expertise that it has developed with its close partners from SEE, CEE, old and new EU countries, the US, Central Asia and the Far East.

The main goal of the FSN is to provide consultancy and sustainable support services to businesses, institutions and organizations, thus boosting the economic growth and employment, strengthen the SME sector and educate entrepreneurs.  In addition, the Consortium assists entrepreneurs in the region to enhance trade and attract investments.
